Its always nice to hear good things :)

Rennai, thank you for your kind words!!

Riette and Downtown Phoenix Venues made my wedding! I was so excited to find a venue I could bring my own vendors into that didn’t overprice everything. Riette was amazing, she checked on me every month before the wedding to make sure things were going all right, and took the initiative to make arrangements with my vendors on my behalf. She really helped to make our wedding a stress free experience. The MonOrchid was also AMAZING! We received so many compliments on our choice of venue, the pictures look fantastic, and everyone had a blast. Thank you!

And look what she said about Copper Square Kitchen :)

The Caterer was amazing! They were attentive for several months before, worked with the vendors on my behalf, made sure I was taken care of all night at the wedding, and the food was even better than at the tasting! The price was also great for what we got, more value for our money.

Double Weddings

I have to say that I am so thankful for the fabulous venues I work with, 90% of the time they draw in the most amazing clients! This weekend both the weddings, one at Bentley and on at monOrchid was both such great couples. I had a million things going on but it was never really stressful! It was also 2 of the most beautiful weddings I have seen in a long time. I cannot wait to get the photos back and post them on www.downtownphoenixvenues.com.

On a different note we are making the beginning preparations to launch www.tempevenues.com as well as www.scottsdalevenues.com.

Bussiest weekend so far

This weekend is our 3 event weekend, our first but hopefully not our last. It was kicked off on Friday evening with a corporate event at the Icehouse hosted and put together by the Destination Manager, I worked with Amanda Viator and she truly did an amazing job and made it so easy for the venue. The event turned out amazing they attached harp strings to the wooden beams, then to a base and played it during dinner. I have never seen anything like that before. Such a treat for the attendees.

On Saturday we started bright and early at the Icehouse for a very unique wedding, I was very lucky to have Sara Garcia be the wedding coordinator from Life Design Event Planning. She was so easy to work with and did such wonderful job. I never had to worry about anything. A little later in the day we started set up for the wedding at Bentley. I had to bounce between the 2 weddings every hour or so, I was exhausted by the time I got home around 2:00am.

Over all the weekend was a major success, all the events ran smoothly and everyone was happy!

Busy busy busy

I am quickly learning that running a one man show is harder than it sounds. And one of the clear cut signs is that it takes me almost a week to blog about last weeks events.

Last weekend was a very busy weekend for Downtown Phoenix Venues. We started Friday off with a product launch party at Bentley Projects. It was top secret and I still can't reveal the product until the 8th of November. Now I have had some very unique events here at Bentley such a doggy red carpet but this was my first product launch party. It was amazing how they transformed the gallery into a learning center for this new product. They really lit up the space like a Christmas tree, it looked pretty amazing!

On Saturday we had a multicultural wedding at monOrchid, and the thing that was wonderful about this was that the couple incorporated their backgrounds into the ceremony. And my favorite part was the grooms vows....they were written like a Dr. Seuss book...too sweet.

Now I just have to get ready for the 3 events this weekend...wish me luck :).

A Little History on Bentley Projects

The entire Bentley Projects facility encompasses over 22,000 square feet of contemporary art gallery space. The flow of the Phoenix facility is really appealing and comfortable. The oldest sections of the Bentley Projects buildings date back to 1918. The facility was used as a commercial laundry, serving local hotels, hospitals, restaurants, and other Valley businesses. As the business grew and changed hands (the Bell Linen Co, the Phoenix Linen and Towel Co., etc.) additional buildings were added on. The exposed bowstring roof trusses, the clerestory windows, different types of brick (which date to specific decades), and other original building components are still here, mingling with the various reinforcements made over the years. The laundry was functioning until the late 1990s, when the property was put up for sale.

The property was purchased by Michael Levine in 1999, who initiated the major renovation work with the goal of salvaging materials and keeping as much original character of the building as possible. Bentley Calverley, who eventually purchased the entire facility, converted what is now Galleries 1 & 2 into a commercial art gallery and had Allen+Philip, the architectural firm that designed Sanctuary on Camelback, The Boulders, and the Hotel Valley Ho, do the final renovation work. Bentley Projects officially opened in 2004.

One of the main goals of Bentley Projects is to be an active participant in the revitalization of downtown Phoenix. We realized that special event hosting is another way to reach out to the cultural and business community. In particular, we’ve established some great connections with major non-profit organizations, and the City of Phoenix loves to have events at Bentley Projects as an example of what of downtown growth and revitalization can mean. But every event, holiday parties for law firms or private wedding receptions, introduces a new group of people to a part of Phoenix and Phoenix history that they might never have known about. When event guests come to Bentley Projects, they discover the gallery as well as the surrounding neighborhood- the AZ Science Center, Copper Square, Chase Field, the independent art galleries and shops on Roosevelt Street, the Arizona Center, and downtown Phoenix in general.

Virtual Site Visits

A couple of weeks ago I had to do a virtual site visit for a client in New York.  We had 10 days to pull an event together and none of the decision makers were in town.  I had 1 person in California and 2 in New York.  Which immediately eliminated the Skype option, because as far as I know Skype does not doe video conference calling.  So I had to come up with a plan B.  Plan B consisted of broadcasting myself via ustream.tv.  It was free and so easy to set up.  You create a profile and a "show"  then you send the link to your clients and they sign in to watch your "show". This simple virtual site visit enabled me to show the property live and book the client.

Another way this broadcasting can be used is for weddings.  Not everyone has the ability to either physically or financially attend the weddings of their family and friends.  A simple solution to this problem is to set up a "show" on ustream.tv and send the link to your family and friends that are unable to attend your wedding.  Have a family or friend set up a laptop with a camera in the corner pointing it at your ceremony spot.  This way everyone can enjoy your ceremony no matter where they are physically.

I have a few other ideas and a little bit of advice posted on www.downtownphoenixvenues.com

First Event of the Season

After a relatively quite summer the events season is about to hit.  And to make it even better I have 2 last minute events that will be in the next month.  Don't get me wrong I am not complaining,  I am actually very excited, I just have to scramble to pull everything together.

The first event of the season is Fundraiser for Haiti to be held at the fabulous monOrchid.  I am really looking forward to this event. I want to make sure each venue does at least five events a year that are focused on giving back.  And the best way for us to do that is to participate in fundraisers and non profit events.

Our second event will be a last minute corporate gathering at the amazing Bentley Projects, we will then immediately dive into wedding season here at the Downtown Phoenix Venues.
